On Thursday, May 8th, over two hundred supporters of HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF BERGEN COUNTY honored the 2008 Builder of the Year Award recipients at the Marriott Glenpointe in Teaneck, NJ. This year’s recipients were BRAD SINGER, President of HRH Construction; ROBERT VANDENBERGH, Senior Executive Vice President of Lakeland Bank; and THE FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH OF PARK RIDGE.

In addition, Habitat Bergen presented KPMG with the Gold Hammer Award for providing Habitat Bergen with the most corporate volunteers at work sites last year. Steven Singer, President of American Banknote Corporation, was the Dinner Chairman.

“These individuals and organizations have shown a deep personal commitment to the mission of Habitat for Humanity and have made significant contributions to the work of Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County,” said Susan Safire, Executive Director. “The money raised this evening will help us continue our mission of providing decent, affordable housing for hard-working families here in Bergen County.”

At the event, Habitat Bergen announced that Pam Dalessio of Ridgefield Park was the winner of the Mercedes Benz C300 car raffle.

Anna Monforth, President of Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County, announced that the next two Habitat homes on Third Street in Englewood will be completed by September 2008 and introduced Sandra Taha, one of the partner family members who moved into their new Habitat home last August. “We finally own our very own home and we say, God bless all of you for making this happen,” said Mrs. Taha.
