Summer Children's Programs at Paramus Public Library

Registration begins June 10th for a variety of summer children’s programs at the Paramus Public Library. The “Catch the Reading Bug” summer reading program kick-off party on Tuesday, June 24 at 2:30pm features a “Library Magic Show” with Magic Jim & his sidekick, Benny the Book Bug. This performance is open to all Paramus residents ages 4 and up, with registration required beginning June 10. Summer Reading Club reporting begins Wednesday, June 25 and continues through Friday, August 8. Children who complete the Summer Reading Club are invited to a celebratory party on Wednesday, August 13 at one of three times, 1:00pm, 3:30pm or 7:00pm, with registration required.  For more information, call 201/599-1309 or go to www.paramuslibrary.org.
At the Main Library, throughout the summer parents may sign up their children for the following programs requiring advance registration: “Cool Crafts” for children entering grades 1-4, Thursdays 2:00pm; “Bugs Galore!” an outdoor program for children ages 4 to grade 4 on Wednesdays at 2:00pm; “Miss Spider’s Tea Party” for ages 3-5 at 2:30pm on Wednesday, July 16; “Snakes, Scales & Turtle Tails” for grades 4-8 on at 7:00pm Wednesday, July 30; “How to Eat Fried Worms” movie for grade 3-4 at 2:30pm on Wednesday, August 6; “Baby Lapsit” playgroup/storytime Thursdays 9:30am-10:15am; “Teeny Time” storytime for ages 12-24 months with caregiver, Thursdays 10:00-10:45am; “Tell Me A Story” storytime for ages 2-3 ½ year olds with caregiver, Tuesdays 10:00-10:45am; “Picture Book Parade” storytime for 3 ½ -5 year olds, Wednesdays 10:00-10:45am; “Kindergarten Here I Come” storytime for children entering kindergarten, Tuesdays 2:00-3:00pm. Programs not requiring advanced registration are: “Lunch with the Librarians” on Fridays at 12:00noon; “Ravenous Readers” Book Club for grades 2&3 the first Monday of each month at 7:00pm; “Picture Bingo” Tuesdays and Fridays 3:00pm-4:00pm; “Movie Matinee Mondays” G or PG-rated, Mondays 3:30pm; and “Book Buddies,” Tuesdays or Thursdays 10:00am-12:00pm, a program in which preschoolers can be read to by teen volunteers. To cap off the summer, The Summer Reading Club Celebration Party is on Wednesday, August 13 at three separate times: 1:00pm, 3:30pm or 7:00pm, with registration beginning July 30th. Three free Outdoor Concerts for children and their families will be offered at the Paramus Library Band Shell this summer on Wednesday evenings starting at 7:00pm: "Big Jeff" DeSedt, a 6 1/2 foot tall award-winning children's singer/songwriter will appear on July 9; "Mr. Steve and Miss Katie" who sing songs for children who love to sing and dance will perform on July 23; Alex Mitnick, a performer who combines fun and learning through the power of music, will appear on August 6th. At the Charles E. Reid Branch Library, Summer Reading Club registration also begins on June 24th with a Kick-Off Party that day from 1:00pm-8:30pm. Branch programs not requiring registration are: “Tell Me a Story” storytime for 2-3 year olds with caregiver, Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:30-11:00am; “Picture Book Parade” storytime for 3-5 year olds, at five different times Monday, Wednesday and Friday; “Picture Bingo”, ages 4 – grade 6, Monday, Wednesday, Friday 3:00-4:00pm; and “Anime Club” for grades 4 & up, on Wednesdays from 3:00-4:00pm. Advance registration is required for Kindergarten Special Arts & Crafts on Fridays from 1:00pm-1:45pm and Arts & Crafts for grades K-6 on Tuesdays from 3:00-4:00pm and 7:00-8:00pm. The Charles E.
