Summer Teen Programs at the Paramus Library

Registration for the teen summer program at the Paramus Public Library begins June 10. Many fun activities are scheduled for the Main and Charles E. Reid Branch libraries. Registration for the Young Adult Summer Reading Club begins with kick-off parties at both libraries.  For more information, see the library website at www.paramuslibrary.org or call 201/599-1309 for the Main Library and 201/444-4911 for the Reid Library.
At the Main Library, on Tuesday, June 24, youth in grades 5-8 are invited to kick off the Young Adult Summer Reading Club at a hands-on “Magic Workshop” on Tuesday, June 24th from 3:30pm-4:30pm. Throughout the summer, teens can enjoy “Game Days” on Wednesdays July 9 & 23 at 2:00pm; “Beading Workshops” on Thursdays July 10 and August 7 at 7:00pm; “Snakes-n-Scales & Turtle Tails” on Wednesday, July 30 at 7:00pm; and a “Tie Dye Lunch” on Thursday, August 7 at 12:00pm. For teens doing their high school Summer Reading List assignments, the library will offer the fun of seeing the books on film on Mondays at 6:30pm: “I am Legend” – June 30th; “The Notebook” – July 14th; “Little Women” - July 21; “Freedom Writers” – July 28; “The Pursuit of Happyness” – August 11; and “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” – August 18. The “Book Buddies” program returns with youth grades 7 & up volunteering to read to young children in the library on Tuesdays afternoons and Thursday mornings. . In addition, teens in grades 7-12 are invited to volunteer at many of the other activities above. Young Adult Reading Club members who log in at least one book are invited to a teen party with dinner, a movie and prizes on Thursday, August 14 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Fun teen activities at the Charles E. Reid Branch Library begin with a “Kick-Off Open House” for the Young Adult “Catch the Reading Bug” Summer Reading Club on Tuesday, June 24 from 1:30pm-8:00pm with snacks, raffles and games. Teens who finish the Reading Club requirements can celebrate with pizza, snacks and prizes at a party on Wednesday, August 16th from 6:30-8:00pm. Other events include: “Teen Craft Wednesdays” and “Anime Club” on alternating weeks from 3pm-4pm; and “Mid-Summer Movie Madness” on Thursday, July 24 at 6:30pm. A special new program is “Rock Band Wednesdays” where teens can play “Guitar Hero” from 6:30pm-8:30pm beginning June 25. Many programs require advance registration.
