Bergen's Center for Suburban Criminal Justice is sponsoring a conference for community leaders in the fields of criminal justice, social service, and education to respond to the prevalent issue of gangs in suburbia. This conference will provide attendees with an opportunity to discuss effective strategies on how to strengthen family, community, educational and organizational dynamics to serve the youth of Bergen County.
This event is co-sponsored by the United Way, Bergen County Youth Services Commission, Bergen County Superintendent of Schools, Volunteer Center of Bergen County, New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), The Hispanic Institute for Research and Development, the National Latino Peace Officers Association and the Urban League for Bergen County.
Tuesday, June 10, 2008, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Technology Education Center, Room 128 (The Moses Family Meeting and Training Center) at Bergen Community College, 400 Paramus Road, Paramus. This event is for invited guests from Bergen Community College and local organizations.
The issue of gangs in suburbia remains a serious problem for law enforcement and local government officials. The Center for Suburban Criminal Justice aims to provide a forum to unite the expertise of criminal justice professors, academics, and other partners to address characteristics of suburban crime, the role of criminal justice systems and how both relate to suburban communities.
