Sheriff Leo P. McGuire inspects his Ceremonial Troops [click here for video clip]Bob Amarante, Chief of the Sheriff's Mounted Unit, assembled his two units, horse and motorcycle, for inspection by Sheriff McGuire. Not content to parade the horses in a row, he and Captain Vera Remes held guide on pennants and performed a few intricate maneuvers with the rest of the troop.
In pairs of two with matching horses, the troop marched to the field and then began splitting up, crisscrossing each other, weaving in and out and rotating in a fanlike maneuver. Very interesting was that the hoses side by side matched.

They were Chief Amarante (Palomino JC Tough Bars), Captain Remes (Palomino Nosey), Lt. Ruth Amarante (Chestnut Rein), Lt. Gaye Collins (Chestnut Sugar), Sgt. Cheryl Hickey (Bay Mr T), Deputy Alan Weisberg (Bay Jake), Sgt. Sharon Illge (white horse Spirit), Deputy Tony Zarcone (white horse Ghost), Deputy Jeanine Anderson (black horse Champ)

Motorcycle riders were: Deputy Chief Doug Lanzo, Lieutenant Paul Ten Eyck, Deputy Tony Cicero, Deputy Frank Holtham and Deputy Mike McGouran.

Dismounted were: Lieutenant Paul Belveduto, Sergeant Anthony Mazeo, Deputy Rob Block, Deputy Karen Chiandusse and Deputy Richard Chiandusse.

Sheriff Leo P. McGuire along with several of his staff inspected the horses and motorcycle riders after the pageant display. After approving the appearance and capability of the group, everyone repaired to the shade of the tents to partake of the lavish display of food and beverages.

Most interesting, this was a family type of function where wives and children were present. Most amazing was seeing Deputy Aimee Mehnert out of uniform, she is on vacation, and with her hair let loose. A lovely lady, a good mother who brought her children to see the review.
