June 2008 Mayor and Council meeting Three mall managers were thanked for their support of the Paramus Police Department's National Night Out. Mayor Tedesco watched as Paramus Police Chief Richard J. Cary presented Minnie Adams (Paramus Park Mall), Bassam Mhich (Bergen Towne Center) and Steve Roche (Westfield Garden State Plaza Shopping Center) with plaques in appreciation for their support of the 2007 National Night Out Against Crime event. Their generous support was instrumental in the success of National Night Out. BJ's Wholesale Club was not present to accept theirs.

National Night Out 2008 will be held on Tuesday, August 5th.
Due to a late start, in the interest of the attendees, the Council voted to forego reports with only the Mayor mentioning the 4th of July celebration starting on July 4th with the parade, the annual police/fire softball game on the 5th and fireworks on Sunday, the 5th along with the Block Party and music.

Tedesco touched upon the fact that Paramus will be hiring two new officers who, at their own expense, have completed Police Academy. Swearing in will be Thursday at 9 AM at Boro Hall.

Tom LoCicero reminded the Mayor that there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new miniature golf course this coming Saturday June 28th. The Mayor thanked LoCicero and extolled the merits of this latest addition to Paramus.

Ed Onorato, Save Our Wetlands, asked the Mayor about progress on the Soldier Hill property. He stated that he saw two people dressed in hazmat outfits entering the property, ignoring his greetings. Later on, foliage had been cleared to make the signs oon the property more visible. The Borough will check into the validity of the signs.
