Two new Paramus Police Officers are sworn in

Two new police On Thursday, June 26th, Nicholas J. Luciano and Mark R. Pianajian were sworn in as Paramus Police Officers at the Boro Hall. Boro Clerk Ian Shore administered the oath to each prospect individually as they were flanked by their family. Mayor Tedesco, Police Commissioner Rich LaBarbiera, Chief Richard J. Cary stood beside them while members of our Police Department stood on one side of the Chamber in full dress uniform.
Both of these fine young men graduated from the Essex County Police Academy's "Alternate Route Program". This is a program where the individual pays for his police education courses and saves the Borough money normally spent for training a new officer. That doesn't preclude the fact that they will begin an orientation by the Paramus Police Training Unit, a six week Field Training program and then be assigned to the Patrol Division.

Police Chief Cary welcomed them all and Mayor Tedesco explained that they represent Paramus and its Police Department when they are on the road. They are of a caliber where they don't have to be told to assist if they see a disabled vehicle, where they are alert to our citizen's needs and will react accordingly.

Tedesco compared their entry to being in a family of municipal employees and that not only do they want to tend to our safety, but Paramus wants them to get home safely as well.
