Paramus Sunrise Rotary is full of action

Sept. 2008 Meeting The meeting on September 2nd at the IBEW Local 164 Training Center was action packed. President Anthony Iacono discussed our upcoming picnic on Saturday, September 20 at the IBEW grounds., The Vocational Assembly on October 6th, our International Indian Dinner on October 23rd and our visit to Paramus Rotary on the 9th of October as well as the District Community Service river cleanup on October 4th.
The picnic will be on the grounds of the IBEW Local 164 and Buzz Dressel, our host, has offered to provide hotdogs and hamburgers and a tent should there be inclement weather. Mukesh Malkan and Anthony are in charge of the details. It was suggested that we assess a nominal charge of $5.00 and to assign needed items to be supplied by some of the members. Because it is open to friends and family, Liz Mason supplied the phone numbers for Call Us Clowns to see if they were available to amuse the young ones.

Treasurer Gary Spivak received authorization to pay the District dues.

Iacono is planning to arrange carpooling to the Vocational Assembly in Parsippany at the Birchwood Manor. Quite a few of the members present have indicated they would like to go.

Malkan and Mayank Ghadia announced the information on our first International Indian celebration at the Taj Palace Indian Restaurant in Teaneck on Thursday, October 23rd. For further information on this as well as our other functions access www.paramussunrise.org where webmaster Sophie Stone is keeping us current.

Paramus Rotarian Lee Rickenberg mentioned that the Group Study Exchange from Finland will be visiting the noon club on Thursday, the 9th of October. A good many members plan to attend the luncheon at Seasons in Washington Township. For many, it will be their first makeup! Our president wanted to invite the Finland group to our club picnic as our guests, but was informed that there is another activity scheduled for that day.

On an interesting note, PRID Ray Wells was visiting our club and had on a yellow jacket. Iacono asked him to explain its significance which Ray did. He was going to Philadelphia to attend a conference of past District Governors and this was the jacket and color that he wore when he was District Governor of 7490 1975 -1976.
