4th sponsor party
At a special party hosted by Courtyard by Marriott, Mayor Tedesco thanked all the sponsors and workers who helped make the 4th of July weekend a memorable celebration. Rich Haviland, General Manager of Courtyard by Marriott on Route 7 North put on a lavish buffet featuring a large shrimp cocktail, cold cuts, corn, BBQ chicken and a super delicious steak. Ironically, this in-house cooking was done by their chief engineer who has earned the sobriquet Chef Chief Marcus.
I had the honor of sitting next to Selma Mitchell and her husband Stanley. Stanley (4 months shy of attaining 100 years of age) Stanley was the Grand Marshall of the parade. Selma is a retired pediatrician who had offices on Farview Avenue. The Mayor was one of her patients. Guylaine and Mike Blitzstein were also at the table.
After the Mitchell's vacated their seats, Steve Roche and Ryan De Stoop. General Manager and Assistant General Manager of the Westfield Garden State Plaza Shopping Center sat down to eat. A lively duo, we had a great time enjoying the evening. Lisa Herrmann, Marketing Manager of the GSP, was off circulating among the 60 some people there.
Mayor Tedesco thanked all the people there for adding to the success of the 4th celebration. He introduced Assemblywoman Connie Wagner who was there with husband Rich and their granddaughter, Alison. In introducing the councilmen, he twitted Mike Blitzstein as doing nothing too much but praised his wife Guylaine. He thanked all the 'behind the scenes' members of the Paramus Borough working family.
