(Bergen County Executive Dennis McNerney and the Board of Chosen Freeholders invite residents to Bergen County’s September 11th Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, at the World Trade Center Memorial site in Overpeck County Park in Leonia.
Over 60 friends and family members of Bergen County residents who lost their lives at the World Trace Center disaster are expected to take part in the vigil that will include the reading of the names of all 147 Bergen County victims. Assemblywoman Connie Wagner (D-38), Bergen County Sheriff Leo McGuire, local mayors, state officials, and members of the Bergen County Freeholder Board are scheduled to attend.
“The tragic events of September 11, 2001, left a permanent mark in our hearts and minds,” said McNerney. “It united our country and taught us the meaning of courage. As we honor the lives of those lost, let us remember their contributions to society. Their legacy lives on through their families and friends.”
“This annual day of remembrance allows us to honor those whose lives were cut short by terrorist acts against our nation,” said Freeholder David L. Ganz. “Their lives were cut short, but their spirit and personal stories will be passed on to a new generation.”
Please join us this September 11, as we pay our respects to those we lost in Bergen County.
