Brightside Manor 4th Annual Garden Party
Despite the hot muggy weather, Bright Side had its 4th Annual Garden Party. Themed 'Celebrating Seniors', it was held under a tent on the south side of the building. Bartender Lee Davis was kept busy supplying bottles of cold water. The honoree was a longtime proponent of elder care and owner of several senior healthcare centers, Robert Van Dyk.
Pat Battle, Anchor & NJ Correspondent for NBC News 4, NY, was the Mistress of Ceremonies. Pat admitted that it took her a long time passing by Bright Side Manor before she really knew what it was about. She became impressed with their service and attitude to the point that her daughter became a volunteer at Bright Side.
Van Dyk, in his brief tour of the facilities, also mentioned that he was impressed with the care that the staff gave to the residents. He noted that they knew the names of every person residing there, calling them by name rather than a dispassionate approach.
Among the dignitaries attending were State Senator Loretta Weinberg, Assemblyman Gordon Johnson, former Teaneck Mayor Jacqueline B. Kates and many members of the Board of Trustees.
A live quartet, the Musicians, supplied music while the Bright Side kitchen staff circulated among the attendees with trays of hors d'oeuvres. . Bright Side Director, Elizabeth Davis thanked all the dignitaries and the attendees.
