Business leaders to discuss Asbury Park Redevelopment

Registration now being accepted for Oct. 7 event

The Northern New Jersey District Council of the Urban Land Institute (ULI-NNJ) and the New Jersey chapter of the National Brownfield Associations will host the seminar "Asbury Park Redevelopment" at the Paramount Theatre, Ocean Avenue in Asbury Park, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 7.
Registration is now being accepted for the seminar, which will be held in conjunction with Madison Marquette, a leading investor, developer and operator of retail and mixed-use real estate.

The event will include discussions about Asbury Park's redevelopment plans, a networking reception and a walking tour of the Asbury Park waterfront led by Anselm Fusco, Vice President of Madison Marquette. Experience Asbury, which is responsible for the waterfront redevelopment, is a joint venture between Madison Marquette and Asbury Partners.

"Two years ago, ULI ran a program on Asbury Park's redevelopment efforts. The Oct. 7 event provides the opportunity to revisit Asbury Park and evaluate the progress of the redevelopment, especially given today's economic climate and perceptions of eminent domain," said Lawrence F. Jacobs of the law firm Wilentz Golden & Spitzer and chair of ULI-NNJ. "With the Oceanfront Asbury plan well underway, this is a great opportunity to learn more about the project's retail and entertainment components and their impact on the city."

The waterfront redevelopment project, which stretches over 1.25 miles of oceanfront property and encompasses residential, retail, entertainment and recreational elements, represents an unprecedented opportunity to rebuild one of the nation's most historic beachfront communities. The boardwalk, renovated by Asbury Partners in 2004, is the foundation for the waterfront's retail/entertainment zone. The retail component consists of more than 450,000 square feet along the boardwalk and adjacent main thoroughfare.

Speakers include:

James Aaron, Esq., of the law firm of Ansell Zaro Grimm & Aaron, P.C., counsel to the City of Asbury Park
· Terry Reidy, City Manager, City of Asbury Park
· Anselm Fusco, Vice President of Madison Marquette

Following the discussion and walking tour, a networking reception will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. To register for the event, contact Crystal McKeown at 773-714-0407, ext. 117, or at crystalm@brownfieldassociation.org. For more information about the event or ULI-NJJ, visit www.nnj.uli.org.
