Paramus Sunrise Rotary has a busy October (and March)

Paramus Sunrsie 9/30 Mary Ann Copp was our guest speaker today and she discussed the Rotary River Revival scheduled for this Saturday, October 4th. It will take place at Riverside County Park in North Arlington, 599 River Road. Yes, gentle reader, it abuts the Passaic River! This initial cleanup venture takes place from noon to 4 PM on Saturday, rain or shine.
President Anthony Iacono gave a plug for the upcoming International Indian Dinner at the Taj Palace on Thursday, October 23rd. He showed the authentic India costume that he will wear that night. When asked, he was told a turban wasn't necessary!

District Governor Dominic Jengo and his staff will pay their official visit this coming Tuesday and club officers were reminded to arrive ½ hour earlier at 7:30AM. October 7th is a busy day with the DG's visit in the morning and his staff meeting at the Fireside in Rochelle Park that evening. The night before, members of the Paramus Sunrise Rotary Club will be attending the Multi-District Conference at the Birchwood Manor in Parsippany.

Rounding the week out, the club will also visit the Paramus Rotary Club which meets Thursday noon at Seasons in Washington Twsp. The purpose of this visit is to greet the Group Study Exchange people who will be at that meeting. Their agenda was too full to visit Paramus Sunrise on Tuesday mornings at 8 AM, thus the visit.

After the first Board of Directors meeting the club has had, many decisions were made. We were kinda under the gun because Anthony and Mel had to be at the Life Safety Center Building to attend the retirement party for Pauline Adler. Liz Mason also had an urgent meeting to attend!

At that meeting, we moved Mukesh Malkan up to President Elect, Liz Mason to Vice President, appointed Simki Shar as Assistant Secretary, Mayank Ghadia as Assistant Treasurer, Irene Maury and Kelly Leitch as co-Directors of Club Service, leaving Vocational Service Director unfilled as of now. Buzz Dressel was named Director of Internal Functions.

The big news is that we will have our first fundraiser. Buzz Dressel suggested a Casino Night and the idea was quickly seized upon. After a short discussion, it was decided to hold it on March 13th, 2009 which just happens to be a Friday. We'll see how these gamblers take to the age old superstition.
