Pauline Adler's Day of Retirement
Tuesday, September 30, 2008, will be a day Pauline Adler will always remember. It is the day she retired from the Paramus Police Department , from a job that started 26 years ago as 'Just a Job', became a career and transformed co-workers who became friends as she became part of the Police Department family.
April 1, 1995, Pauline was appointed as secretary to the Chief of Police, Claude Majcher. She stayed on when Majcher retired and Fred Corrubia became Chief. Lasting through Fred's retirement she stayed for awhile as secretary to Chief Richard J. Cary until today when she retired.
According to Cary, many took Pauline Adler's work for granted. With over 90 sworn officers and over 80 Full and part-time civilian employees, Mrs. Adler did not shirk responsibility. Some of the many things she assisted the Chief’s Office with were the Operating Budget, Capital Budget, Forfeiture Expenditures, Personnel Changes, Vacation Schedules, Medical Claims, National Night Out, the annual Police Memorial Service, Fourth of July Activities and more. A busy woman!
Chief Richard J. Cary mentioned all of the above at a small party held at the Life Safety Center. It was attended by many of the Paramus Borough Family. Cary told Pauline that it was a bittersweet moment,,, saying goodbye to a friend and coworker who has meant so much. He wished Pauline and Don, her husband all the best.
