Bergen Community College Holds Congressional/Freeholder Debates

Bergen Community College and the League of Women Voters of Bergen County (LWV) will host a Congressional debate featuring the candidates from the 9th Congressional district. The candidates invited to appear are Vincent Micco (R), Michael Perrone, Jr. (I) and incumbent Rep. Steven Rothman (D). The debate will take place Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the Moses Family Meeting and Training Center (Technology Education Center room 128) on the campus of Bergen Community College, 400 Paramus Road, Paramus.
The debate will be moderated by the LWV. The public is invited to attend and will be allowed to submit questions for possible discussion by the candidates.
In addition to the Congressional debate, the College and LWV will also hold a Bergen County Freeholder debate on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 3:15 p.m. in room A-104 at the College. The candidates seeking two three-year terms are Christopher Calabrese (R), incumbent David Ganz (D), Jeffrey Heller (R) and incumbent Bernadette McPherson (D). Paul Duggan (R) and incumbent Vernon Walters (D), who are seeking an unexpired term, will also participate.
Founded in 1920 by Carrie Chapman Catt, the League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government and influences public policy through education and advocacy. The goal of the LWV is to empower citizens to shape better communities worldwide. The LWV has approximately 150,000 members and works at national, state and local levels.
Bergen Community College is a public two-year coeducational college, enrolling more than 15,000 students in Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, and Associate in Applied Science degree programs and certificate programs.
