Congressman to Speak About Topical Issues of Concern to Older Adults
Congressman Scott Garrett (R-NJ), who is running for re-election this year, will address residents and guests of The Allendale Community for Mature Living on Monday, October 27 at 2 p.m. The program will take place in The Atrium Lobby and is free and open to the public.
Garrett, who is a member of the House Financial Services and Budget Committees, will speak about topical issues of concern to older adults and is certain to include the current economic crisis and its affect on seniors as part of his presentation. He has also been outspoken throughout his career on issues such as access to health care, Medicare, Social Security and veterans’ benefits.
The Allendale Community encourages residents to be actively involved in community and civic affairs, and to be educated and aware voters. All candidates and representatives of all parties are welcome to speak on the issues during this election year. To help keep residents and area adults apprised of the issues that concern seniors, the Allendale Community offers educational programs, such as this forum, throughout the year.
The Allendale Community for Mature Living is located in Allendale at 85 Harreton Road off Route 17 South. It was the first retirement community in Bergen County to offer three levels of senior residency on one campus, from independent living to assisted living to fully accredited nursing care and rehabilitation services.
