On Sunday, October 19th over 100 volunteers, cycling enthusiasts and children gathered for the 1st Annual Care Plus Ride for Wellness. All proceeds will be used by Care Plus Foundation to help those suffering with mental illness build a better life for themselves and their families.
Expert cyclists from event co-sponsor Organic Athlete guided participants through quaint country roads and beautiful Autumn foliage on one of the 3 routes – 50 miles, 25 miles or 10 miles. Music and a delicious picnic lunch greeted riders on their return.
The kids in attendance eagerly did their part by peddling through the Trikes & Training Wheels ride. Their efforts where rewarded with plenty of children’s activities and pumpkin decorating hosted by event co-sponsor the Junior Woman’s Club of Ridgewood.
“This year is turning out to be especially trying for many Care Plus clients,” said Tara Augustine, Care Plus Foundation Executive Director. “The Foundation has seen a tremendous increase in requests for its housing and medication assistance programs. Event proceeds will directly help those in need like keeping a family of seven stay warm and avoiding eviction; or aiding a single mother with the medicine she needs to continue to care for her family. We are grateful to all those that supported this event.”
