Mayor and Council Meeting 10-28-08
The Municipal Pool will be ready in time for the 2009 season promised Mayor James Tedesco. Physical soil removal will start in two weeks. Nick DeMauro of D.A.R.E. presented the Mayor and Council a check for $28,588, proceeds from the D,A.R.E. Carnival held at the Westfield Garden State Plaza Shopping Center in June. He commented that John Travolta had visited the carnival. http://www.paramuspost.com/article.php?story=2008060419123112&query=Travolta
DeMauro said that, with approvals, next year will be the 5th year at the Garden State Plaza. This check was only a beginning; there may be more. DeMauro publically thanked the Westfield Garden State Shopping Center for their cooperation and their help in having D,A,R,E, expand it's programs for the kids.
During the Open to the Public session, Mayor Tedesco started a new aspect of respect by asking the speakers to please remove their headgear. Comments had been made about the habit of those participating in that session keeping their heads covered. Compliance was graciously accepted.
One resident alerted the governing body that there was a telephone pole near the Vander Plaat Funeral Home that was leaning over. Part of it was held together with what looked like rope. As usual, Mayor Tedesco promised to look into it and to try to have the situation remedied,
Ed Onorato and Mark Distler of Save Our Wetlands were honored on October 16th by the Hackensack Riverkeeper at a function in Hasbrouck Heights. True gentlemen, they presented the honors to Paramus and staed that they felt that is where the honors belonged. Tedesco said he would put them on display at the Boro hall.
