Ryan De Stoop
Having met the new Assistant General Manager at a Courtyard by Marriott function in Paramus, I was prepared for his quick humor, pleasant smile and affability. I was not prepared for this young chap's knowledge of the inner workings of the Westfield Garden State Plaza Shopping Center that was hiding behind that smiling face. All this in 8 months on the job.
Ryan was kind enough to answer in depth questions about the GSP, mainly concerning the plans to be ready and waiting for the expected crowd on Black Friday. There has been a bridge closed on Garden State Plaza Way due to safety factors. A construction crew is busy making a newer and safer bridge to accommodate the anticipated traffic. Construction to be completed by deadline near to Nordstrom's is being attended to.
Other improvements are to the furniture available for the patrons to rest their weary bones while traversing from shop to shop. More comfortable, there will be leather padded benches and couches. The parking lot lights are being lowered in height with more fixtures being added to provide for safer parking and visibility. Still on the drawing board is a plan to have push button valet parking service and more road paving. All this to achieve greater customer satisfaction.
The Concierge Desks are being redesigned to facilitate customer. The new concierge desk will be in place for the Holiday Season to improve customer service facilities in the mall. As we spoke, Santa Claus was being given a new location for greater visibility. Santa will establish the North Pole visage near to J C Penny and California Pizza – hours of operation 10-9 daily.
Ryan joined the Westfield organization in his hometown of Sydney, Australia. Starting out in Center Management, Australian speak for shopping mall, he worked his way up through various positions until he became eligible for the Paramus location, a plum! In the future, he aspires to tackle Property Development. Having shown that he is capable of assimilating the day to day managing of the Westfield Garden State Plaza duties, it seems certain that Ryan De Stoop will accomplish any goal he sets out to attain.
