On Friday, November 21, 2008, at the First Presbyterian Church, 150 Palisades Ave, in Englewood, Paramus Surgical Center distributed Thanksgiving food packages for more than 450 families. Paramus Surgical Center, a contributing sponsor for this program came to the aid of local Bergen County families who would otherwise go without a Thanksgiving dinner in these trying times.
Each Thanksgiving food package consists of a roasting tin, a turkey, pie, fresh white potatoes, fresh carrots, fresh apples, canned yams, stuffing mix, boxed mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, pancake mix and syrup, cake mix and icing, coffee, tea and holiday napkins.
“In an ongoing, community outreach effort that extends beyond health and wellness, we felt a responsibility to come forward for this worthwhile cause. This day was a wonderful example to remind us of what Thanksgiving is really all about. Especially, when everyone has the opportunity to enjoy this important American Holiday,” said Judy Boehm, RN, CASC, and Director of Nursing at Paramus Surgical Center.
The Center for Food Action provides year-round assistance to people in crisis by providing $1.6 million worth of food––40,000 emergency food packages to about 17,000 different people a year.
