Poskanzer Skott Architects, one of northern New Jersey's most prolific architecture and design firms, was recently selected to design additional space for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) at 110 Meadowlands Parkway in Secaucus, New Jersey. Barry Poskanzer, AIA, principal and partner, and Julie Lee, project architect, will lead this project, which is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2009.
"I enjoyed designing this space for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Secaucus," stated Poskanzer. "The department's goals are extremely important and the space we have created will allow the VA to better meet the needs of those who have served in the United States armed services."
The VA currently occupies 4,000 square feet of space on the first floor of 110 Meadowlands, as an outpatient-counseling center. Once completed, this second, independent space will be used as a regional training facility. The space will consist of twenty individual offices, large training spaces and open work areas for about ten people. The conference and training spaces will be equipped with smart boards, projection screens and model equipment.
110 Meadowlands is a three-story, office building owned by First National Corporation. Built in 1980 with an addition in 1990, this building is situated in an excellent location, convenient to Route 95, rail and bus services, shopping, restaurants and Manhattan.
Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the VA is a government-run military veteran benefit system that is responsible for administering programs of veterans' benefits for veterans, their families and survivors. The benefits provided include disability compensation, pension, education, home loans, life insurance, vocational rehabilitation, survivors' benefits, medical benefits and burial benefits.
