Atlantic Health to Build Sports Institute at The Green at Florham Park

Rockefeller Group Development Corporation and The Gale Real Estate Services Company, through its joint venture partnership at The Green at Florham Park, have announced that Atlantic Health, parent organization of Morristown Memorial Hospital and Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ, will build a sports institute in the 268-acre master planned development. Atlantic Health will build the 100,000-square-foot, four-story medical facility called the Atlantic Sports Health Institute on the northwest end of the property.
“The Rockefeller Group and Gale are pleased that Atlantic Health has decided to locate this state-of-the-art sports institute in The Green at Florham Park,” said Les Smith Jr., executive vice president, Rockefeller Group Development Corporation. “Their presence in the development, along with The New York Jets and Marriott Renaissance ClubSport, a 250-room hotel blended with a 75,000-square foot health club and spa, continues to add to the excitement and success of the project.”
According to Mark Yeager, President of Gale Real Estate Services, the Sports Institute will bring needed services to the New Jersey market. “Locating the Atlantic Sports Health Institute in Florham Park will make the town a destination for people in need of the specialized sport care the institute will provide, Yeager said. “It is a great addition to the business community, and Florham Park will become synonymous with sports medicine.”
Construction on the facility is scheduled to begin in mid 2009 with completion targeted for mid-2010.
Along with the development of the Atlantic Sports Health Institute, The Rockefeller Group and Gale will continue to develop the other phases of The Green at Florham Park, which will seek Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for the more than 730,000-square-foot Class-A office space slated to begin construction in 2009.
“The Atlantic Sports Health Institute, located adjacent to the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center, will bring world class sports rehabilitative services and prevention programs to athletes of all levels and of all ages, from student athletes to seniors,” said Joseph A. Trunfio, president and CEO, Atlantic Health. “Located between Morristown Memorial Hospital, a state designated trauma center, and Overlook Hospital in Summit, home of the Atlantic Neuroscience Institute, the new medical facility is a natural addition to the Florham Park community.”
