The administration of BRMC announced today that Bergen Regional Medical Center has once again received full (complete) accreditation from the Joint Commission. This certification includes all three divisions; Behavioral Health, Long Term Care and Acute & Ambulatory Care.
The Joint Commission has been accrediting hospitals for more than 50 years. Its accreditation is a nationwide seal of approval that indicates a hospital meets high performance standards. Hospitals are generally surveyed every three years to maintain their certification. In August of 2008, Bergen Regional underwent the accreditation process to maintain the Gold Seal of approval received from the Joint Commission previously.
“The Joint Commission standards are intended to promote continuous, systematic and organization wide improvement in the hospital’s performance and the outcomes of patient care” said BRMC Administrator and Chief Operating Officer, Susan Mendelowitz. “We are very proud of the team effort displayed by our employees, medical staff members and volunteers who do their best every day to ensure that BRMC is providing care at the highest levels.”
