T’ai Chi Chih Classes to Be Offered by The Valley Hospital

The Valley Hospital will present courses on T’ai Chi Chih for beginners at the Luckow Pavilion in Paramus. Courses will begin Tuesday, April 21, at 4:30 p.m. and 6:15 p.m., and Thursday, April 23, at 9:30 a.m. Intermediate-level classes will start Tuesday, April 21, at 1 p.m., and Thursday, April 23, at 4:15 p.m. The intermediate classes are designed for those who have completed the beginners program.

All classes are eight sessions and the cost is $60. Each class is one hour and fifteen minutes in length. Please call 201-634-5359 to register or for more information.

T’ai Chi Chih consists of 19 gentle movements and one pose which help to balance and circulate the body’s internal energy (called “Chi”). The slow, graceful movements are easily learned by students of any age. T’ai Chi Chih is considered more of a “moving meditation” rather than a strenuous, aerobic exercise or a martial art.

Benefits include: increased energy, reduced stress and fatigue, greater balance and flexibility, spinal strength, control of blood pressure, improved bone density, and improved focus and creativity.

The courses are taught by Dorene Krause, an accredited T’ai Chi Chih instructor. Dorene has taught T’ai Chi Chih classes at a variety of venues including: the Midland Park Continuing Education Program, Healing Hands Institute, the Westwood Recreation Center, and several area churches.

Dorene has completed Reiki Level I, and training II. She practices T’ai Chi Chih daily and realizes its benefits. She enjoys sharing this gift with her students. To contact Dorene, please call 201-444-9712.
