Matthews Appointed Co-Director of Valley’s Maternal-Fetal Medicine Service

The Valley Hospital is pleased to announce that Gail M. Matthews, M.D., has been named co-director of the hospital’s Maternal-Fetal Medicine Service. She is joined in practice by Co-director Andrei Rebarber, M.D.; Karen Russo-Stieglitz, M.D.; and Maryellen Hanley, M.D. Dr. Matthews has been a member of Valley’s medical staff since January 2007. She is a graduate of the Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, and she completed her internship and residency at the Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine.
She completed her fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at Stony Brook University Hospital in New York. After her training, she was an associate professor of obstetrics/gynecology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Kentucky and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. She was formerly on the staff of New York University School of Medicine.
Dr. Matthews is highly skilled in the practice of all aspects of maternal-fetal medicine. The Valley Hospital’s Maternal-Fetal Medicine Services features:
• board-certified maternal-fetal medicine specialists with many years of experience in caring for women with high-risk pregnancies and their fetuses
• a staff of physicians and registered sonographers who are among the few professionals in the region certified by the Fetal Medicine Foundation to perform nasal bone assessment in nuchal translucency screening
