PARAMUS, N.J., May 15, 2009 – As the Paramus Sunrise Rotary approaches its first anniversary, the organization, a division of Rotary International, will be hosting a fund-raising fashion show and dinner event on Friday, May 29, at 7 p.m. The affair will be held at the IBEW Local 164 training center at 65 Century Road in Paramus, N.J.
Since its inception, the Paramus Sunrise Rotary has made charitable contributions to such organizations as Gift of Life, Theo’s Work, Children’s Aid and Family Services, Freedom Walk Kids of America, Turn a Frown Around Foundation, Pony Power and the Rotary Paul Harris Foundation. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Rotary’s fund-raising activities, including the funding of new Rotaract members. Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service, which allows participants, aged 18-30, to discover more about themselves and the world by participating in community projects, leadership training, or cultural exchanges.
“Bergen Town Center’s renovation has been a great addition to the borough of Paramus,” stated Anthony Iacono, president of Sunrise Rotary. “We are honored that mall management and the stores have decided to join us in our fund-raising endeavours.”
The fashion show will highlight new summer attire from various Bergen Town Center stores, modeled by local celebrities and dignitaries, including Paramus Mayor James Tedesco and Assemblywoman Connie Wagner, among others.
IBEW Local 164 has donated the use of its member hall and the dinner portion of the event. The Local initially donated “seed” money for the inception of the Paramus Sunrise Rotary and donated its facilities for the weekly meetings held Tuesday mornings at 8 a.m. at Local 164’s training facility on Century Road in Paramus.
Tickets for the dinner and fashion show are $40 each. In addition to tickets, the group is looking for table sponsors for $500 per table.
The event also will feature a tricky tray with gift certificates and products donated by local stores and restaurants, including Chakra, Chef Central, Fairway, Whole Foods and more. A special grand prize shopping spree to Bergen Town Center will be given away at the event.
