George Clinton Celebrates His Birthday with Parliament Funkadelic at bergenPAC

The principal creator of P-Funk, George Clinton and the band Parliament Funkadelic, will be performing at the BegenPAC theatre on July 22nd at 8pm. Along with James Brown and Sly Stone, George Clinton is considered one of the most important innovators of funk music. Known for top-notch musicianship, politically charged lyrics, bizarre concept albums and unforgettable live performances, Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic are expected to funk it up
In 1997, the band was admitted to the Rock and Roll Hall. Band Parliament Funkadelic made it on thirteen Top Ten hits in the U.S. R&B music charts between 1967 and 1983, including six #1 hit placements. Best known for the hits “One Nation Under a Groove”, “Flashlight”, “Atomic Dog” and “Give Up the Funk”, George Clinton is also recognized for working with Tupac Shakur on the song “Can’t C Me”, Outkast on the song “Synthesizer”, Redman on the song “J.U.M.P” and the Wu Tang Clan on the song “Wolves. In September 2008, Clinton released his solo album George Clinton and His Gangsters of Love, featuring Sly Stone, El DeBarge, Red Hot Chili Peppers, RZA, Carlos Santana and more.
Clinton has appeared in many films, including House Party, Good Burger, PCU, The Breaks, and most recently appeared as the voice of the Funk Station DJ in the 2004 video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. He made an appearance in the season 2 premiere of How I Met Your Mother on CBS.
