New Jersey Devils Goaltender Martin Brodeur will be honored Thursday by the General Assembly

All-Time Leader in NHL Regular Season Wins to Be Honored Thursday; Hundreds of Devils fans expected to attend.
New Jersey Devils Goaltender Martin Brodeur will be honored Thursday by the General Assembly for becoming the all-time leader in National Hockey League regular reason wins. Brodeur, a West Orange resident, accomplished his feat on March 17 in a 3-2 win by the Devils over the Chicago Blackhawks. It was his 552nd win.
Brodeur has been a staple of Devils Hockey for the past 15 years, leading the team to three Stanley Cup championships. He is also the only NHL goalie to achieve seven 40-win seasons and is a 10-time All- Star player and a winner of four Venzina Trophies, four Jennings Trophies and a Calder Memorial Trophy.
The Joint Legislative Resolution honoring Brodeur is sponsored Assembly Speaker Joseph J. Roberts Jr., Senate President Richard J. Codey, Sens. Ronald L. Rice and M. Teresa Ruiz and Assembly members Alex DeCroce, Patrick J. Diegnan Jr., Frederick Scalera, John F. McKeon, Anthony Chiappone, Jon M. Bramnick, David P. Rible, Mila M. Jasey, Ralph R. Caputo, Cleopatra G. Tucker, Albert Coutinho and L. Grace Spencer.
The Devils are hosting a “Train to Trenton” Thursday that will bring several hundred fans to the State House for the ceremony. The train will leave Newark’s Penn Station and travel to Trenton.
The Assembly ceremony honoring Brodeur is expected to begin at 1p.m. Thursday, June 18, in the Assembly Chambers, State House, West State Street, Trenton.
