Connie Wanger Visits
New Jersey State Assemblywoman Connie Wagner had never visited the State Fair Meadowlands extravaganza taking place this year from June 25th to July 12 at the Meadowlands. Who better to escort her but yours truly who knows many of the people participating in the presentation. We had to proceed slowly across the independent food concessionaire midway as I introduced her to some of my friends. (as Connie)
Rose Wuchter was on the list as was Vinny Valentino, except that Vinny wasn't there at the time. Neither was my buddy Mel with whom I always take a double Mel picture. For that matter, John and Cindy Hofeditz weren't at the Crazy Mouse when we passed by. I offered to take Connie on the Sky Ride and to meet another good friend, Terry Grace, but she demurred, Rides weren't her thing, but later on an ice cream cup was.
Of course the evening wouldn't be complete if I didn't introduce her to State Fair Meadowlands owner Al Dorso and to Amusements of America partner Dominic Vivona Sr. We relaxed at their office before stopping to see hypnotist Steve Baynor perform on the way out.
It was an enjoyable evening and I'm sure that Connie will return with her family.
We stopped at Gu-Mas Zeppole where my longtime friend Donna Rossitto came rushing out to give me a hug and to meet Connie. Donna, Mike - her husband – and I go back a long ways .. AMOF many years ago Mike and I took a helicopter ride at the Rockland County Fair where I was Assistant to the Manager, Bud Forss. Of course I had to explain that Connie was not my current lady friend!
