On Wednesday, August 12th from noon to 11 PM, Fairway will donate 10% of the net sales to the Gift of Life fund. Gift of Life specializes in bringing cardiac impaired children from underdeveloped countries to the United States for heart repair. It is estimated that with active shopping participation, Fairway will donate enough money to sponsor at least two GoL candidates. Fairway lives up to its motto "Like No Other Market!"
Racing against time to get the news out, Fairway had a meeting at the Paramus Borough Hall on Thursday with Police Chief Cary, GoL Committee Chair John Mosca, Paramus Rotary members Linda Port and Bernie Wilker as well as Mel Fabrikant. Details were worked on for August 4th, National Night Out, and Shopping Day August 12th at Fairway from noon to 11. Wilker, of Alphagraphics, offered to make large displays to help with the program. Mosca will furnish Fairway with GoL videos that can be displayed in the Fairway Market located in the Fashion Center, corner of Route 17 north and Ridgewood Avenue.
You've always wanted to help a struggling tyke. Here is your chance! Tell your friends and neighbors about Fairway's fantastic offer and ask them to participate on August 12th from noon to 11.
This began when Fairway decided to participate in Paramus' National Night Out on August 4th. They went to Police Chief Richard Cary and stated that they would like to do something for the community as a good will gesture. Cary, in turn, consulted with Detective James Teehan, his D.A.R.E. officer. Jim suggested that the React Club, a division of Rotary, receive Fairway's proposed donation and to use it for the Rotary Gift of Life (GoL) program.
Cary, Community Service Director of the new Paramus Sunrise Rotary Club, contacted Mel Fabrikant who suggested a broader vista. Why not involve all the Paramus organizations, React at West Brook and East Brook, Interact at the High School, the brand new Rotaract Club, Paramus Rotary, Bergen Sunset Rotary, Paramus Sunrise Rotary and the new Bergen Community College Rotary Clubs. The Police Chief and Fairway agreed!Racing against time to get the news out, Fairway had a meeting at the Paramus Borough Hall on Thursday with Police Chief Cary, GoL Committee Chair John Mosca, Paramus Rotary members Linda Port and Bernie Wilker as well as Mel Fabrikant.
