Art, History and Politics to be Discussed This September
To promote lifelong learning for residents and guests, Heritage Pointe of Teaneck, a full-service rental retirement community, will host an array of educational programs throughout September. · Tuesdays, Sept. 1 and 15 – Explore the colorful world of opera with Christine Cullen, a graduate of Westminster Choir College, during a presentation entitled “For the Love of Opera” at 1 p.m. The informative program will cover operatic history and showcase select pieces from the world’s most beloved composers.
· Thurs., Sept . 3 – Charlotte Gluck, a frequent lecturer on fine arts, will present “Art Appreciation: Looking at Art is Not Really Seeing It.” This educational session, which begins at 1:30 p.m., will feature a slideshow with familiar and not-so-familiar paintings whose true meaning is frequently far from obvious.
· Sun., Sept. 13 – Classical greats like Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert come to life as Dr. Stuart Bailin, Professor Emeritus from York College, presents their lives through stories and little known tales. “Classical Music History” begins at 4:15 p.m.
· Thurs., Sept. 24 – Rhoda Plotkin, a former political science professor will discuss “Current Issues in the News,” a program designed to describe and explain the nature of politics and how it affects our daily lives. Group participation is strongly encouraged at the seminar, beginning promptly at 4 p.m.
