JCC Thurnauer School of Music Invites The Community to Learn About The Music School and The Classes Offered for 2009/2010

Everybody is welcome to attend the open house for a sampling of the wide range of programs offered each year to a thriving and diverse community of children and adults who share the common love of making music. This event is free and open to the public; JCC membership is not a requirement for participation or enrollment in any music school class. See below for a listing of activities. The JCC Thurnauer School of Music was recently designated as “Major Arts Institutions” by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State.

September 13, 2009 - 9:15AM – 7:00PM .. Free
Free sample classes - 9:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
· “Musical Babies” for babies ages 0-12 months, 9:15-10:00 a.m.
· “Musical Toddlers” for children ages 13-35 months, 10:15-11:00 a.m.
· “Music and Movement” for children ages 3-4 years, 9:15-10:00 a.m.
· “Music and Movement” class for children ages 5-6, 10:15-11:00 a.m.
Musical Instrument Petting Zoo – 10:30-11:30 a.m
Children can touch and try instruments of all sorts in a festive environment.
Showcase Recital – 12:30-1:15 p.m.
Hear current music school children perform in a family-friendly environment.
Ensemble Auditions – 2:00-5:00 p.m.
Children, teens and adults who already play an instrument and are interested in joining an ensemble can audition for the string orchestra, the symphony or the chamber music program. Call the music school at 201.408.1465 to schedule an audition.
Jazz Jam Session - 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Play an instrument? Want to improvise? Come to the Jazz Jam Session led by the JCC Thurnauer School of Music Jazz Faculty. Meet other improvisers and learn about the JCC Jazz Program.
