Say It Loud! School Is Cool!

Touring the country and premiering your film isn’t a typical summer for a 13 year old. For Jordan Coleman, it’s just another day at the office. The director, producer, and creator of “Say It Loud!” is bringing his Back-To-School Tour to Englewood Hospital and Medical Center on August 26 at 7:00pm. With this he hopes to shed light on the problems facing young African American males when it comes to education.

In Jordan’s film, “Say It Loud!”, he interviews a number of celebrities, athletes and public figures, including Kobe Bryant, Michael Strahan, Jadakiss, Newark Mayor Cory Booker, and Bronx District Attorney Rob Johnson to find out what they have to say about education. While many kids his age are dreaming of becoming a professional athlete or rap superstar, Jordan feels that education should come first.

“Everybody needs education to become what they want in life. They need a backup plan,” says Jordan, who emphasizes a “Plan B” just in case that dream of becoming a celebrity doesn’t quite work out.

Jordan and those he interviewed believe that an education is the best path to becoming a success, although it is often a challenge to convince the typical middle school student of that. Jordan himself could not focus on education when he was named Defensive Player of the Year for the Hackensack Junior Football League; he also had dreams of becoming a celebrity superstar. With the motivation of his family, he graduated from Hackensack Middle School with a 3.5 GPA. He has also gained numerous commendations from officials such as the United States Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and Hackensack Mayor Michael Melfi. Jordan hopes that young people will see his film and accomplishments and work towards doing the same both inside and outside of school.

“Say It Loud!” will be screened at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, 350 Engle Street, Englewood, NJ, on Wednesday, August 26, at 7:00pm. This is a free event open to the public. For more information about the “Say It Loud!” film screening or Jordan Coleman, visit www.SayItLoudFilm.com.
