Fame Actor Paul Iacono -
Famous father, Anthony Iacono, donates $3,000.00 to the Tomorrow Children's Fund.
Paul Iacono, an actor in the movie Fame opening 9/24/09 at the AMC Theaters located at Westfield Garden State Plaza Shopping Center visited the Don Imus – WFAN Pediatric Center at HUMC the previous Monday morning. His intent was to cheer some of the patients who were undergoing treatment for leukemia. Paul is well suited for this task since he too is a survivor
He was welcomed by Kathy Ambrose, Administrative Director of Tomorrow's Children's Fund, who brought the group including Anthony Iacono, his father, and Mukesh Malkan, President of the Paramus Sunrise Rotary Club. Anthony is the immediate past president of Paramus Sunrise, former Paramus Borough Administrator and currently in the same position for the city of Passaic. Also there was Peggy Schunk, HUMC Public Relations Associate.
Fame Actor Paul Iacono -- Brought in to the staff area, Paul was immediately surrounded by the nurses and technicians, each of whom gave and received warm welcome hugs. Out came Dr. Michael Harris and Dr. Burt Appel. Like the staff, they knew Paul from his stay at the hospital for treatment. Hugs were the order of the day!
An affable 21 year old, Paul fit right in with the young patients, giving each his time attention and an autographed CD of the FAME Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. Nineteen songs that provide a lively lilt, the CD will not only cheer the visited patients and their family, it would make an interesting addition to anyone's collection.
Some of the young ones visited were bashful because they had lost their head of hair. Paul immediately pulled his fedora off and showed them his unruly mop, assuring them that the loss was temporary and would grow back.
Paul's proud father Anthony, after the visit, pledged $2500.00 from his discretionary fund from his year as Charter President of the Paramus Sunrise Rotary Club, a not for profit organization. When Kathy Ambrose agreed to visit the Paramus Sunrise Club on a Tuesday morning at the IBEW 164 Training Center to accept the check, Anthony raised the amount to $3,000.00. This is not the first time that Anthony Iacono has done something indicating his love for and pride in his son. Years ago, Anthony ran in the New York Marathon six times and raised the most money of any runner!
