Folk Star Cheryl Wheeler Plays Bergen, Oct. 16, 7:30 p.m

Cheryl Wheeler
A virtual who’s who of folk and country artists have covered Cheryl Wheeler’s work, including Dan Seals, Peter Paul and Mary and Garth Brooks. Wheeler, the artist behind these stars, will visit Bergen Community College on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. in the Anna Maria Ciccone Theatre for “An Evening with Cheryl Wheeler: In Concert.” Tickets are $24 for adults and $22 for students, children (17 and under) and senior citizens (65 and over).

To the delight of her audiences, Wheeler’s shows meld contemporary folk music and comedy, ballads and social commentary. Her recordings include the 2009 album “Pointing at the Sun” and the 1999 song “If It Were Up to Me” – an anti-gun anthem – that received acclaim in the wake of the Columbine High School tragedy. In addition to the many artists who have covered her work, Wheeler has collaborated with Shawn Colvin and Mary Chapin Carpenter.

The performance is part of Bergen’s “This & That from Here & There” Performing Arts Series. For ticket information or for a full schedule of events, please call Bergen’s Office of Community and Cultural Affairs at (201) 447-7428 or go to www.bergen.edu/cca
