HUMC's Animal Assisted Therapy Partnership With Westminister Kennel Club's Charity, Angel On A Leash

The Department of Volunteer Services at Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC), the first hospital in Northern New Jersey to partner with the Westminster Kennel Club’s charity, Angel On A Leash, is hosting a visit with Uno, the renowned Beagle who was the first of his breed ever to be named Best In Show at the famed Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show at Madison Square Garden.
Uno will delight geriatric patients at HUMC and young patients at the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital at HUMC as he makes his rounds on Friday, October 16 at 11 a.m. at the medical center. Uno is a registered therapy dog and is a celebrity “spokes-dog” for Angel On A Leash. He will be handled by David Frei, the voice of the Westminster and president of Angel On A Leash.
Uno and David have been all over the country, since Uno’s historic win in 2008, including a stop at the White House and ride on a float in the Macy’s Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. HUMC’s Delta Society Pet Partner Program certified dogs and their human partners will also be visiting patients. The program is aimed at promoting the role of the human-animal bond to enhance human health and quality-of-life.
