Dating back to 1937 when choreographic master Pavlo Virsky brought together a group of folk dancers, the ensemble’s diverse programs present the exquisite charm of the Ukraine and the wealth of its traditions. From rich folk traditions, Virsky created such artistic compositions as “We’re from Ukraine,” “The Sailors,” and “The Dolls.” Full of soft humor are his well-known works such as “The Stepp Wagoner’s Delight” and “Under the Cherry Tree,” whilst “A Girl from Podillya” is soft and romantic.

Pairing a vibrant imagination with innovative choreography, Virsky strove for the preservation and development of his folk art - still valued today. First-class performance and expressiveness of the dancers, exquisite moves and a bright palette of costumes are among characteristic features of traditional pieces such as “The Carapathians,” “The Tambourine Dance,” “The Young Years,” “In Peace and Harmony,” and “The Russian Suite.”

Now internationally recognized, the dancers are welcomed by viewers across the globe in more than 20 countries including Austria, England, Argentina, Bulgaria, Brazil, Belgium, Venezuela, Greece, Ecuador, Italy, India, Spain, Canada, Columbia, China, and even Cuba.
