Developer Expands Commitment to Fort Lee With New Office at Site of Company’s Planned Hudson Lights Development
Tucker Development Corporation, a leading developer of shopping centers and mixed-use properties throughout the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions, has announced the opening of a new corporate office at the site of its planned Hudson Lights development in Fort Lee, N.J. The property is located adjacent to the George Washington Bridge and is one of the most significant sites poised for redevelopment in Northern New Jersey. Tucker owns the west parcel of the property and has plans to develop an approximately one million-square-foot, mixed-use town center at the site.
In keeping with the company’s commitment to addressing the needs of the Fort Lee community, Tucker plans to utilize a former state-of-the-art marketing and sales center that is situated at the site to coordinate its development efforts in Fort Lee.
Tucker purchased the west parcel of the property earlier this year and has since worked with community leaders and local groups to create a redevelopment plan that will generate ratables for the Borough of Fort Lee and offer opportunities to live, work, dine and shop in an attractive downtown setting.
“We are proud to open an office in Fort Lee and to further demonstrate our commitment to the Borough,” Tucker President and CEO Richard H. Tucker said. “Our company is dedicated to the redevelopment of this important property and to addressing the needs of the community by proposing a redevelopment plan that will transform this once underused site into a base for tax ratables as well as a thriving downtown that will provide the Borough with a true town center.”
At the Fort Lee site, Tucker is proposing a full, mixed-use environment for the west parcel. Of the projected 940,000 square feet designated for the project, 185,000 square feet will be used for restaurants, shops and a health club. Additional square footage will provide for indoor and outdoor parking spaces.
Other plans for the west parcel of the property include 357 rental apartments, up to 170 condominiums and the option for a hotel, depending on market demand.
“Our redevelopment plan for Hudson Lights provides the community space and streetscape environment that the residents of Fort Lee have told us they want – a place to call their downtown, to shop and dine and to live that doesn’t require frequent car trips to many different locations,” Tucker said. “This redevelopment project will provide a focal point to the Borough.”
