Meeting 10-13-09
A short meeting playing to an almost empty house, the highlights were a dissenting vote by the two Republican Councilwomen and a political diatribe by former Mayor Cliff Gennarelli. Gennarelli used the public portion of the meeting to lash out at the current Democratic majority on the Council and at some of the corruption scandals that have been plaguing Paramus. Mayor James Tedesco responded, but the former Mayor had already left the chambers.
Gennarelli was later seen in the building hallway along with disgraced former Borough Clerk Ian Shore conferring with a group of people known to favor the Republican Party. During his tenure as Mayor, Gennarelli had resigned from the Republican Party that elected him and started a schism group. Shore resigned from his office after charges of porn shaded his career. He was allowed to keep his benefits.
The dissenting votes came after unanimous approval was voted on to create the position of COAH Rehabilitation Coordinator. The selection of Diane Marichal, a competent woman knowledgeable in real estate, was approved on party lines, a four vote approving, a two vote disapproving.
Councilwoman Maureen O'Brien, in her report, mentioned that Health Day is Wednesday, October 14th starting at 4 PM at the Life Safety Center. She mentioned attending a meeting on e-cigarettes to discuss their safety and a meeting with Borough Department heads where they stressed budget expenditures.
