Oct. 16 “Social Media & The Legal Community” Seminar Offers Discussion of Today’s Cutting-Edge Marketing Approaches for Law Firms
With an eye toward learning best practices for navigating today’s complex and ever-changing landscape of social media platforms, several of the region’s most prominent lawyers met at Court Plaza in Hackensack on Oct. 16 for “Social Media & The Legal Community”, featuring a panel comprised of leading law professionals and media gurus discussing practical approaches to leveraging social media for brand promotion and business development.
Hosted by Alfred Sanzari Enterprises, owner of Court Plaza and one of Northern New Jersey’s oldest and most respected property owners, the event featured a group of the region’s top legal and media professionals, including Frank Burgos, managing editor of The Record; Jason Chuptick, editor of mediabistro.com; Ronald D. Coleman, partner and head of intellectual property department at Goetz Fitzpatrick, LLP; Melissa Shuman, director of marketing for Cole, Schotz, Meisel, Forman and Leonard, P.A.; Stacy Salmon, marketing and business development director at Phillips Nizer, LLP; and Ron Simoncini, president of Axiom Communications.
Topics covered during the panel ranged from the most advantageous approaches to starting a blog and building a targeted following, to harnessing the networking power of LinkedIn, choosing the most effective social media tools and the ways that social media is able to increase brand reputation and Web optimization.
In addition to hearing the experiences of legal professionals who have implemented successful social media campaigns, attendees were afforded insight into the ways that mainstream media companies are identifying sources for their content via social media sites, an emerging trend that has expanded the opportunities for marketing and promotion by combining traditional and new media approaches.
“The legal community more than most industry sectors has embraced the use of social media, creating a highly competitive environment in which more lawyers are contending for their share of the online marketplace’s attention and recognition,” stated Simoncini, who moderated the panel. “The conversation forged by the event’s panel participants centered on the practical applications of social media in its ability to bolster increased attention amongst a targeted audience, while addressing the specific concerns of legal professionals, including privacy and risk mitigation.”
A fitting host for the event, Alfred Sanzari Enterprises’ Court Plaza, the region’s premier Class A office complex strategically located directly across from the Bergen County Courthouse, is home to numerous highly regarding law firms, including Cole, Schotz, Meisel, Forman and Leonard, P.A.; Phillips Nizer, LLP; Herten, Burstein, Sheridan, Cevasco, Bottinelli, Litt & Harz, LLC; Winne, Banta, Hetherington, Basralian & Kahn, PC; Kaufman Dolowich, Voluck & Gonzo LLP; and Rivkin Radler LLP; as well as the region’s leading accounting firm, Amper, Politziner & Mattia LLP.
David Sanzari, President and CEO of Alfred Sanzari Enterprises, commented: “hosting this event is a reflection of our commitment to addressing the ongoing business development requirements of our many law firm tenants, especially at a time when the need to foster cutting-edge strategies for reaching new clients has never been greater.”
