Natural Approach to Lawn and Tree Care is Focus of Presentation by Borst’s Tree & Shrub Manager
Borst Landscape and Design in Allendale, a leader in the field of organic lawn care, has been busy educating Bergen County homeowners in how to apply “green” techniques to their lawn care. Bob Malgieri, Borst’s tree and shrub division manager, recently shared some of these tips during an interactive presentation on organics at the Montvale Public Library.
Malgieri, an arborist who has specialized in organic tree and shrub care for more than 12 years, explained the central concepts of organics, soil health and how it affects plant life, and natural lawn and tree care methods. Attendees learned about the proactive approach of organics and the importance of creating balance between beneficial organisms, the soil and grass. In addition, Malgieri discussed how to add vital nutrients to the soil without harmful chemicals and organic ways to treat tree and shrub disease as well as pests.
“Organic practices are all about promoting healthier soil, which sustains healthier turf and plantings,” said Malgieri. “These steps include employing natural fertilization methods and using more environmentally sensitive chemicals, such as those in our Borst Organic® program,” he added.
Borst Landscape and Design, the Grand Award winner of 40th Annual Environmental Improvement Awards from PLANET (Professional Landcare Network), has made a name for itself as the premier landscaping firm in Northern New Jersey focused on “green” practices with Borst Organic®. This private-label product line of organic products for lawn, tree and shrub care avoids synthetic fertilization and harsh chemicals. The holistic approach promotes optimum growing conditions and natural resistance to pests and diseases.
