The Wyckoff Family YMCA has a new brick patio courtesy of a hard-working Eagle Scout. The scout, John Connolly of Troop 77, Wyckoff, chose the Wyckoff Family YMCA for his community service project and decided to embellish the area around The William E. Boye Jr. Tree to beautify the grounds. He approached Mark Borst, president of Borst Landscape and Design (Borst) in Allendale, to help bring his project to fruition.
Eagle Scout Connolly said: “Mr. Borst has been known for his community service in helping many causes and was as usual very gracious. It was also a pleasure to work with Mr. Borst.”
The project has totaled more than 256 Hours and 20 volunteers and generous donations from citizens and acquaintances of the YMCA and Scout Connolly. Pictured at a recent dedication ceremony for the project are (left to right): John Connolly, Mark Borst and Joyce Votero, director of Wyckoff Family YMCA.
Borst, which designs and builds hardscapes in addition to its lawn and garden care services, donated the earth-moving equipment and operator to prepare the site, and help locate and acquire bricks and other materials to build the patio. The work was completed over the summer by Connolly.
