Paramus DPW
Paramus DPW workers and members of Local 73 volunteered their time, money and efforts to conduct a food drive for the Paramus Department of Human Services. Irene Maury, Director of the Human Services Department, has stressed the ongoing need for supplies and the strain caused by the downturn in the economy. Showing that they care about Paramus, the union members decided to hold a food drive on a Saturday, their time off.
Very interesting, some of the donations came from local area restaurants who, despite struggling themselves, contributed to these stalwart workers and their selfless goal. But, as Carl told me, they surmounted the problem of the donated restaurant tickets by holding a Tricky Tray auction and using the proceeds for their cause, help for the needy patrons of the Department of Human Services.
As Rich Abbamont said, Paramus cares!
