Borst Landscape and Design Offers Decorating Tips to Area Homeowners
As the leaves fall and the air chills, Borst Landscape and Design in Allendale, N.J., recommends some home decorating tips that add warmth to any property this season. Gail Tunis, head of Borst’s Garden Maintenance division, explains that adding greenery and lighting to a home’s exterior is a great way to highlight a special landscape feature or to create a more inviting entrance for guests.
“We use natural greenery and garlands to enhance entryways and façades,” explained Tunis. “Decorating doorways and windows with greenery, and adding containers with seasonal plantings, provide a contrast to the starker landscapes we see this time of year.” Tunis suggests decorating with garlands, plants and embellished wreaths that thrive in cold weather.
Tunis points out that most greenery will last four to five weeks if it is cold outside, so it is ideal to decorate by the end of November or early December to ensure the greens still look fresh throughout the December holidays to New Year’s Day.
Borst’s holiday decorating services include lighting installations that add sparkle to specimen trees as well as homes. “Lighting is a great way to call attention to a beautiful evergreen, unique plantings or a specific part of the property,” said Tunis. Adding lights to trees, shrubs or the roof line are just some of the ways the professionals at Borst help homeowners showcase special areas and add a beautiful glow during the holidays.
Borst also brings the spirit of the season indoors by decorating fireplace mantels, stairways and doorways with natural greenery and accents that tie in with the home’s color scheme or the homeowner’s preferences. Tunis suggests adding some lighting indoors to create a celebratory mood both inside and out.
In addition to residential properties, Borst provides its complete interior and exterior holiday decorating service to its commercial customers.
