Hackensack University Medical Center's Flu-Related Vistor Restriction Policy Put On Hold

It was reported earlier this week that Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC) would be implementing a flu-related visitor restriction policy on Thursday, November 19. This is no longer the case – it will NOT take effect on November 19 as originally thought. As the additional and necessary surveillance information comes in, a future decision will be made as to the precise date the policy may be implemented. A media alert, campus-wide signage, and multiple other means of communication to the public will transpire at that time.
HUMC is committed to protecting the health and well-being of the community, inclusive of its patients, families, visitors, and staff. Reminders for everyone to stay healthy and avoid spreading germs are: get immunized against seasonal flu and H1N1; wash hands often with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand gel; cover nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing; and stay home if feeling sick.
