Snow Magazine Adds Borst to its “2009 Top 100 Snow Contractors” List
Borst Snow Management, LLC, a division of Borst Landscape and Design, has been named to Snow Magazine's “2009 Top 100 Snow Contractors” list. The award-winning landscape and design firm officially launched Borst Snow Management in 2008 to meet the needs of the company’s growing list of commercial accounts.
Inclusion in Snow Magazine’s annual list is based on revenues reported by snow removal companies across the country. Borst Snow Management generated more than $600,000 in revenue last winter from commercial customers at office, retail, multi-family and industrial properties throughout Bergen and Passaic counties. The company is a member of the Snow and Ice Management Association and applies Borst’s commitment to environmentally sound landscaping practices to the snow removal division.
“Just as we use environmentally friendly products on lawns and plantings, we also apply safer products when clearing snow and ice,” said Mark Borst, president and founder. “We use Magic Salt because of its non-toxic, biodegradable properties. It is much less corrosive to the concrete, brick and paved surfaces as well as curbside lawn, plants and shrubs.” Borst noted that Magic Salt may keep snow removal costs down because the application requires a reduced amount than using plain rock salt or calcium chloride. “It has a residual bonding effect that deters additional snow accumulation,” he explained, adding that Magic Salt is also preferred by customers because it will not cause damage to steel doors, flooring or other surfaces, and does not leave a white residue on entry way carpets.
Borst turned to snow removal twelve years ago to keep crew members and equipment working during the landscape division’s slower months. Snow removal also expands the firm’s service offerings to its commercial landscape customers, who now rely on Borst Snow Management to keep their properties clear of snow and ice hazards and impediments before their employees and customers arrive.
As this year’s snow season approaches, Borst reminds property owners of the importance of a snow removal plan and contract before storms arrive. “Snow and ice management is an important safety measure for the property owners we serve,” said Borst. “Now is the time to consider plans for this winter.”
