Administrators from Bergen Community College and the John Jay College of Criminal Justice have signed an agreement that will permit a seamless transfer of credits between the two schools, allowing Bergen graduates to enter the four-year school as juniors.
In order to utilize the transfer agreement, students must graduate from Bergen’s Associate in Science in criminal justice program and then receive acceptance to John Jay’s Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice program. Once accepted, students need to complete 55 credits at John Jay, which is a branch of The City University of New York public college system. The agreement was negotiated with the guidance of Bergen professor Richard Kuiters and signed by Bergen President Dr. G. Jeremiah Ryan and John Jay President Jeremy Travis.
Bergen currently has 136 transfer agreements with more than 30 four-year colleges and universities and offers more than 40 A.A. and A.S. programs that allow students to transfer seamlessly to schools throughout the region.
Bergen Community College is a public two-year coeducational college, enrolling nearly 17,000 students in Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, and Associate in Applied Science degree programs and certificate programs. More than 15,000 students are enrolled in non-credit, professional courses through the Division of Continuing Education, the Institute for Learning in Retirement, the Philip J. Ciarco Jr. Learning Center, located at 355 Main Street, Hackensack, and Bergen at the Meadowlands, located at 1280 Wall Street West, Lyndhurst. Information about the College is available at www.bergen.edu or by phoning the Welcome Center at (201) 447-7200.
