True to its mission—Riding to Help Others—the Andiamo Benefit Motorcycle Run provided a terrific ride while raising money for charity. Englewood Hospital and Medical Center received a check for $47,500 for its new emergency care center. “We are very grateful to be, once again, a beneficiary of this outstanding community-sponsored project,” said Douglas A. Duchak, Medical Center CEO and president. “We have a true partner in caring in the Andiamo Run.”
Approximately 1,200 bikers traveled a virtually non-stop route over roadways in New Jersey and New York, including the George Washington Bridge. Back at the starting point, Andiamo Restaurant in Haworth, a festive block party complete with music and entertainment attracted a total of about 1,600 people. Volunteers and food sponsors along with co-founders Don Dickstein and his son Alan Dickstein, served up 70 cases of soda, 250 Andiamo pizzas, 2,000 Sabrett hot dogs, 8 tubs of Italian ice and 1,000 pulled pork sandwiches by the end of the day.
