By Mel Fabrikant Tuesday, December 29, 2009, 04:56 PM EST
Public is Invited to Attend Free Presentation on How to Enhance Home’s Curb Appeal and Entertaining Options
Kelly Tuttle and Terry McMahon, landscape designers from Borst Landscape and Design in Allendale, N.J. will address members and guests of the Cresskill Garden Club on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010 on “Enhancing Your Home Front to Back.” The presentation will focus on how homeowners can enhance curb appeal and create backyard retreats that expand entertaining options. The free presentation will be held at the Cresskill Borough Hall, 67 Union Avenue in Cresskill, N.J. at 1 p.m.
“What visitors see first sets the tone for everything that follows,” McMahon said about a home’s front yard design. The designer stresses the importance of choosing the correct plantings and hardscape layout. Well-placed walkways and expanded front step areas ensure a home’s entrance is gracious and inviting.
Tuttle emphasizes choosing trees and shrubs that fit with the home’s overall architecture, and that provide seasonal color. “Choosing the correct plantings provides, structure, color and interest to beds,” she said.
The landscape designers will also share insights into the growing trend of outdoor living. They will discuss how to integrate functional outdoor hardscapes and “rooms” with the existing home; best landscape design practices for creating privacy and beautifying these backyard retreats; and the importance of keeping landscaping well trimmed and maintained to protect the investment. Outdoor fireplaces and gourmet kitchens are part of Borst’s hardscape design/build project portfolio.
Borst Landscape and Design, a full-service, award-winning landscape/hardscape firm, offers presentations to community organizations on a wide range of topics. Reservations to attend the Cresskill Garden Club presentation may be made in advance by contacting Gayle Greifemberger at (201) 569-8380 or gardengayle@aol.com.
