Heritage Pointe of Teaneck Hosts Music, Art, Intellectual Seminars This February

Fun, Informative Programs are Free and Open to the Public

Heritage Pointe of Teaneck, a rental retirement community, will host an abundance of activities including seminars on art, music and history. Area residents of all ages are invited to attend these free programs.

- Mon., Feb. 1 – David Aaron returns to Heritage Pointe to present the music, fun and trivia of the Broadway hit, “The Sound of Music.” Aaron, a professional clarinetist, band leader and lecturer, will play recordings of hit songs, memorable music and discuss historical vignettes at 2:30 p.m.
· Tues., Feb. 2 and 16 – Christine Cullen, a graduate of Westminster Choir College in Princeton, N.J., will present “For the Love of Opera,” showcasing the colorful world of opera and playing select pieces from the world’s most beloved composers. The music begins at 1:30 p.m.

· Mon., Feb. 8 – Learn interesting information about how Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani developed his unique painting style. Modigliani’s haunting faces and other famous paintings will be viewed and discussed along with insights into his wild and short life. Bart D’Andrea, a former NYU Art Professor, will lead the lecture and slide show beginning at 2:30 p.m.

· Tues., Feb. 9 – Residents and guests will venture to Yellowstone this Winter without leaving Teaneck, courtesy of professional photographer Ray Turkin. Turkin will present a slideshow of rare and unseen footage of breathtaking scenery at 2:30 p.m.

· Mon., Feb. 22 – Join William “Pat” Schuber as he presents a historical review “National Security vs. Civil Liberties: From George Washington to Barack Obama.” The lecture will examine historical events from U.S. history and the actions of U.S. presidents. Schuber, a senior lecturer at the School of Administrative Science at Fairleigh Dickinson University, will begin the discussion at 2:30 p.m.

· Thurs., Feb. 25 – Rhoda Plotkin, a former political science professor, will discuss “Current Issues in the News,” a program designed to describe and explain the nature of politics and how it affects our daily lives. Group participation is strongly encouraged at the seminar, beginning promptly at 4 p.m.
